A Fortunate Conflict

The other half and I had made plans to go to Ft. Lauderdale @ the end of Sept-beg of Oct. Pavoratti is performing, and we thought it would be a fun time to see him on his "farewell" tour. We have had out tickets for some time, and recently made the necessary travel plans for hotel and car, etc. I knew it would happen. There were two weddings of two friends planned in the fall, perhaps October. I did not know when, just a "time frame". As soon as I received the first invite, I knew it would conflict. And, as I opened it, my fears came true. Well, we will not be attending, and I informed them of same. I am sure they are pissed, but what can I do? We have already plunked down a good sum for this trip and so it will go through. Just last week, another invite arrived in the mail, for a friend in Minneapolis. The Sunday after the first wedding. One on Saturday, and one on Sunday. I have already let them know as well, that we will not be making it, cuz of our previous engagement w/ Pavoratti. Well, I think this was a great turn of events (not that I cannot celebrate w/ friends) cuz now I will not have to choose which wedding will take precedence. Neither will. A fortunate conflict indeed. No one but myself receives favoritism. Isn't that how it should be in everyday life? In all honesty, I would love to have attended both ceremonies, but I don't think it was meant to be.
