Goings-On
Slack is the name of the game this week. To all of my avid readers (all two of you) I will return someday. For now, a listing of various thoughts/events of the past several days.
Battlestar Galactica; last Friday's episode. The best of the new season. Holy Cats! Intensity and death. Wow!
My good friend Christina appeared on national television last Saturday. The other half and I stayed home (cuz we go out so often) just to watch her. She appeared as one of the dancers in the opening # for Monique's Fat Chance. It was a beauty pageant for full figured women. Christina was outstanding. For those that watched this on Oxygen Network, and for those that do not know her, she was the blue dress girl w/ short blonde hair. Once the # ended, she was to Monique's left for a long time. She looked fabulous and danced even more fabulously. I was soooo proud of her, and it was her first gig in LA. Not to mention her first audition. Congrats Christina, I am so happy for your LA beginning. On the other side of the coin, her husband Scott is doing extremely well since moving out there close to year ago. With all of his updates, I can hardly keep up, but he has been working consistently since arriving there. Kudos to my good buddies in their LA adventure. Warm up the seats friends, and keep your fingers crossed for my own arrival there soon. Tee hee.
The other half and I watched Saved last night. Did I expect such a tear jerker? No. Well, it surprised me in many ways. It was much deeper than I had anticipated and all of the performances were outstanding. Go Mandy Moore as the nasty villian. It was a wonderful movie experience, and there was not one problem that stuck out to me.
What else? Train of thought, train of thought.
A friend of mine (hello Jon) finally sat down to watch The Intervention, the film I did a few years ago. He seemed pleased by it and his roomates said I looked like David Arquette. I will take that, cuz he is hot in a very goofy sort of way. Thanks Jon's roomates!
Lose Control. Missy Elliot is not my kind of music, but I was flipping channels and caught this video. Bought the album, and the song is now being worn out quickly.
We went to an open house this weekend. It was a 1.7 million buck place in Wicker Park. I have decided that the next place I live will be the final one. Wherever that is, I will not settle for less than I want. There.
Being the extreme collector of dorkish things, I went to the House of Monsters over the weekend. It is a horror collector's wet dream come true. They sell videos, DVDs, posters, toys, stills, etc. All horror related. Well, my timing was primo, cuz they are shutting down operations so that they may sell solely via internet. I was lucky to find Document of the Dead on LaserDisc. I have no LaserDisc player, but who cares, it was the Japanese copy of the film. For those not in the know, it is a behind the scenes look @ Romero's films, mostly Dawn of the Dead. I also picked up Creepshow on VHS. I believe one of the original copies in the clamshell. I also found a wonderful still from Jaws 3-D. And a gift for my friend Eric. I don't believe he reads this, but I will keep it mum just in case. I also picked up the press kit for The People Under the Stairs. I am a loser. I no longer care that I am a loser. I like my crap, and it likes me for giving it a home. There.
