I KNOW You Can't Dance
Once again, reality TV strikes, and I am the victim; forced to watch week after week of stupidity. Why doesn't someone just hold a mirror up to me and I can see my own stupidity while watching this mind draining programming? So You Think You Can Dance. Last night, a couple of the aspiring "dancers" were not able to learn the choreography they were given in the hiphop classroom. Rather than stop and say, "I simply cannot get it", they chose to fake an injury, and pull themselves off of the dance floor. Later, the two women (not just one faking an injury) continued to struggle through the steps, using their "injury" as a crutch. Once they went to a break, most of the dancers sat and relaxed. Our "injured" ladies of the hiphop dance floor chose to instead, "free style" (is that the correct term...I am not a dancer, and I KNOW it)? Well, miraculously, they were spinning, falling to the floor, doing splits, jumping, humping the floor, etc. What happened to this debilitating injury? This brings me to my two problems w/ this situation.
ONE: As in previous blogs, please lie well. You shouldn't lie at all (yeah right) but if you choose to do so, do it w/ conviction. Dozens of witnesses as well as the camera crews can see you are clearly faking your injury, cuz you just plain suck. Let's move on.
TWO: If this is your passion, then why would you do this to yourself? Sure, I have faked illness to get out of a work day @ a horrible day job, but rarely have I ever faked an illness to get out of a show (actually never), but I have perhaps played sick to miss a rehearsal. The only one I recall is a day I could just not face reality or other beings. There, I said it. But these morons on this show are being given an enormous opportunity and they are losers who have no clue. It is sad that time has been wasted when so many others would have worked their asses off on this program and would have probably far surpassed the judges expectations.
On a final note, one of the dancers left after one day in the program. He had no excuse. At least be man enough to say that it is too hard, more than you expected, I can't get the steps no matter what I do, I have a dying wife @ home, whatever. Be honest, for the love of God. If you cannot dance, don't fake it, move on, try something new...please.
Then again, this makes for great, dramatic television.
I feel like I am stuck between a rock and hard place here.
Stupid reality TV.
Stupid me.
