I Gave a Female Mannequin a Sponge-bath & Other News

Over the weekend, we attended a party @ the home of friends Jessica and Brian. A very worthwhile gathering. Their home rang true of welcome friends and a relaxing evening of no-worry fun. Jessica's spread of food alone, was worth the trip. Considering the other half and I are still going strong on the Seattle Sutton eating, this "cheat" night was all a "cheat" time should be. Great food, good company, and a play by the young ones in attendance.

The other half and I have been w/out home projects, since our plasma was installed oh-so many months ago. We had been itching for something to further our need to decorate, and Friday night, on my way home from work, I found something that sparked a weekend long project, resulting in a warmer, cozier atmosphere in our main living area. For those interested, drag your lazy asses over, and you will see the miracle that is the home design of Michael & his better half. But, now another project reaches completion. Onto the next.

We took another needed trip to our storage unit across town. None of the close-by locations are climate controlled, and so we have to travel down Addison to past the expressways. We packed up a few of our stuffed animals, preparing them for hibernation @ the storage unit. I always have pangs of guilt when we desert them so far from home. The other half always eases the pain, by making it known that they will meet up w/ all of our other animals already there. They will teach them the ropes and they will party all night, every night. They have it good. It is, after all, climate controlled, and safe. Yes, I still have stuffed animals, and many of them. So, make your rude comments, and let me go on w/ my life!

While we were out and about, we trekked to our favorite second hand place, the Brown Elephant. A couple of years ago, I had purchased a mannequin arm, to be used in a painting art project. I am not a painter by any means, but I thought it would be fun to use the curves and odd angles of an arm to paint a fun piece of art, a la me. Well, that has been on our wall for many a year, and what would the next logical step be? A mannequin leg, head? No, I got a mannequin, w/ two legs, torso and neckline. There is no head, and no arms. Well, in order for me to start painting it today, I had to give it a bath. Not a real bath, but one in which I had to explore the mannequin's most private parts with a wet sponge. As I wiped down her breasts, it dawned on me that I would have to also clean in between her legs. The mannequin is sitting down, and her legs are crossed. Once completed, she will sit on one of our "pseudo couches" (the name of the two bench-like vinyl seating areas I acquired many years ago). Well, since her legs are crossed, it was a tight squeeze to get the sponge into her most personal of areas. She is clean now, but not completely. I have drawn the line @ heading to Walgreens for additional feminine items. We got quite a few looks as we marched down the street toward home, with "Rose" in tow. (there may be a name change, once she is painted, "Rose" may no longer be appropriate) What would these people think if they knew she was to be fondled later on? For her own good of course. At any rate, it will certainly be a conversation piece once completed. So far, so good.

"What did you do today, honey?"
"I gave Rose a spongebath."
