An Honest-to-God Feature

Over the past 4 days, I have added 15 pages to my screenplay. 84 pages total. I am stunned that I have reached this place, and that I still have plenty to get out of my brain. I don't feel as though I am digging for material. That was my greatest fear, that I would be scrounging around for ideas long before I reached a feature length script. Not that I would be against a short, but a feature seems like more of a challenge and an accomplishment. No digging here. I have emailed several actors I would be interested in using for my reading. I have taken advice from my recently proclaimed "mentor" and am trying to set up that initial reading. I have added three new characters in my writing today, and am enjoying bringing these folks to life. It amazes me how involved I get when I enter this other world. It will be hard to turn this over to someone else, cuz I have such a clear picture of the locations, but interestingly enough, no clear picture of the characters. I think my descriptions are sufficient, but I don't have anyone in mind while writing these people. The people I have asked to join me for a reading are competent actors that would serve the characters well. But even writing today, I was not picturing these particular people as Sid, Kevin, Smiley, etc. Weird. Since I have oodles of time now, I believe I could have a very rough first draft by the end of the week. Wouldn't that be a stitch?
