You Oughta Know...
...these various bits of info.
My headshots have been ordered, as I have okayed the proof. It looks great, so the process continues.
I spent a lovely weekend with friends Serena and Lester and family. At long last I beat Lester at Monopoly, of course rubbing his nose in this long-awaited victory. We also taught the kids how to play Texas Hold-em, and Blackjack. I got them all to watch The Descent, and it was quite well received. In addition, when Serena went to work on Saturday, I took it upon myself to display and organize her toys and books on their bookshelf (her toys were in storage). Since I have no projects to do at home, this was as good for me as it was for her. She liked it and all was well with the world. As is the usual, it was a fun, relaxing weekend.
Still looking for work. Good times.
My biological father had quadruple bypass surgery last week. I haven't seen him in over 20 years, but we have been talking off and on over the past several years. Obviously, there is much more to this story, but will be discussed at another time. He came out of it okay, but it was a good indicator of where I will be headed if I don't clean up my own act. I now have heart disease and diabetes on both sides. Good to know.
I'm about halfway through my script's first rewrite. Just by a basic cleanup, I've gotten rid of about 2 pages of junk. Some dialogue was cut or made cleaner, but no full scenes or characters have yet made the chopping block. Hopefully, I will be able to call this first rewrite completed in the next week or so. Keep your fingers crossed. In other script news (not sure if I already blogged this) I found a screenwriting competition supported by the Writer's Guild America; West, where I submitted my script for protection. I also received my certificate from them in the mail over the weekend. So, it's official.
