The Day's Events
I had an audition this morning with a second agency. It was short, to the point and I have no idea what the people thought. I did my monologue; missed nothing, and got little to no reaction. So, did I do well? I guess I'll have to find out. When I got the notice to call them for an initial interview, they made it clear to bring 10 headshots/resumes. So, yesterday I trekked out to get the new resumes; to include their info. Today, they asked for only 3? I don't get it. So, I've discovered a new way to make the switcheroo of agency info and my own personal contact info more smooth. Labels. I'll leave a big blank spot on all resumes and then put in a sticker that will be appropriate for the audition. 31 years old folks, and I guess I now have life and its challenges figured out. At last.
On the way to the audition, I discovered a new used DVD/VHS place; just a short way from home. I stopped in, cuz I had a bit of time to kill. I found 4 great items, and at $1.99 each, I couldn't pass them up. First was The Dark Half. As I've mentioned in previous entries, any and all Romero items will be snatched up; for the right price. It's a VHS, even though I already have the DVD. The other 3 VHS items I grabbed (there were sooo many other customers eyeing them; my timing was perfect) were the 80's howlers (to my knowledge not available on DVD now, or perhaps ever!); Lady Beware, Far from Home and Lisa. Lady Beware is a late 80's Diane Lane vehicle. She stars as Katja; a window dresser who catches the eye of a sleazy stalker. Great fun! Far from Home is a Drew Barrymore special. It also stars Richard Masur and Matt Frewer. I recall renting this in the 80's cuz of Drew, but more specifically for Andras Jones. He was well known to myself and best friend Eric; as a principal actor in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. Believe it or not, this was the major selling point for us! Finally, Lisa. It stars Staci Keanan of My Two Dads and my hometown girl; Cheryl Ladd. A teenage girl (Keanan) sparks the interest of a much older man; who happens to be a psychotic madman; the Candlelight Killer. This puts herself as well as her mom (Ladd) at grave risk. Best of the bad stuff. Directed by Gary Sherman of Poltergeist III fame.
On my way home, I saw a woman across the street; jogging, stop and help a man in a wheelchair who was having trouble getting up the ramp of the sidewalk. It made me feel good. There are still thoughtful people out there. Perhaps we aren't as doomed as I tend to believe.
When I picked up the mail today (upon my return home), I found a letter from a Milwaukee agency I submitted to with my mass mailing. Apparently, they are actually a management company. I got an invite to meet their staff on May 15th (when I knew I would be available), and get to know how they work, and they will get to know me and my goals. It's in Milwaukee which kind of sucks, but I'm willing to do it, cuz it would be nice to have an actual manager to do some of the footwork for me. The woman I talked to was super nice, and had a great attitude. I told her that my past two interviews were so quick, I couldn't believe that I would be placed absolutely perfectly. So I appreciated their taking the time to get to know their potential actors. We'll see how it goes.

Sounds like an eventful day! Hope it all pans out as it should! And, just as an aside, any film named Lisa, hell, anyTHING named Lisa is bound to be splendiforous, am I wrong?
"Lisa" is an 80's film...which means its the very super splendiforous best of all that is flashy, trashy and horrifying about this crazy decade. Take that as you will, LISA! :)
