Sharon Stone appeared on The Today Show yesterday morning; touting her wares as a returning Catherine Tramell. She looked incredible! I'm anxious to see Basic Instinct 2; if only to see how good she's kept up her appearance! The other half and I sat down to watch the original over the weekend. Still one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I saw the film 3 times in the theatre. The second installment promises more Sharon sex scenes, more fabulous rich bisexual diva behavior, and no Michael Douglas butt shots. Should be good!

I read/heard somewhere that Paul Verhoeven claims that the final shot of the ice pick makes it completely clear that Catherine (blond) was responsible for the entire string of killings; setting up Jeanne Tripplehorn's character. To me (perhaps I'm just dumb; always possible), it was never 100% clear who was the culprit. The latest viewing found me really watching Dr. Garner (Tripplehorn). She was pretty weird, which gave me pause. I hope that the sequel does mention some of the original's characters and situations. Nothing irks me more than when a sequel pays no mind to its source. Based on the size and shape of the breasts in the opening murder, I would say that it was definitely Catherine (Stone).
