The Stress-Free Aftermath

A bit of snow; no accumulation. Traffic was fine; it took me about 45 minutes to get to the audition; which was in BFE. I got there, and met up w/ friend Bucky; nice to see a familiar face. I also met up w/ Ian; a guy I read w/ on a short film audition a couple of months back. They were both there for the same part. There were only 14 men called for two bodyguard roles. Everyone seemed very cordial. No one there was "beefy", as I expected there to be some. We were all about the same height and body type. The faces ran the gamut. There were super cute guys, everyman guys and then guys like me; w/ a bit more character (big nose, etc.) They were apparently running low on time, so the initial "follow the directions on a bit of improving; subtly reaching for your gun, etc" was left behind. They called all of us in, went down the line saying our names, and then chose 4-5 guys to stay behind to do the improv work. I was not among them (Bucky was; go Bucky!) So, after my day of uber-stress, it was done. The director (I believe F. Gary Gray is his name) of The Italian Job was there w/ his AD, and they did the choosing. I was surprised to hear from both of them, "Don't take this personally, you all look great, thanks for coming down, etc." Hollywood big-wigs w/ heart. (Like I know, cuz of all of my heaps of experience). I did look pretty great, wearing a suit I'd found a few hours earlier in a Marshall's. The other half plopped down 100 bucks for it, and it actually fit me quite well. I never thought I looked very good in suits, but here we are. Now I have one for possible auditions as a doctor, businessman or the like. I was able to make it to rehearsal; only about 1 1/2 hours after I was called anyway. So I was able to quickly learn the steps I missed, and all is right w/ the world.

I'm so relieved that I don't have to make any weird, difficult decisions. Plus, I still have the (hopefully) respect of my agency. Yeah, I say.

In addition, Teresa (sp?) of my agency was there to help run the audition. And she recognized me. I guess that's a good sign, since we've only met once.

I don't know why I allow myself to get soooo worked up over everything. Perhaps I need some prescription drugs to calm me. Then I can get addicted and I will have more of a fun history when I appear on E's True Hollywood Story 10 years from now. Just a thought.
