I've Been Watching; Just Not Blogging!
Over the past month; I've seen a lot of flicks. I just have yet to make note of them. So here goes!
Quickly...
When brother was here. The Constant Gardener. Great. Moving. Creepy. Did Rachel deserve the Oscar? Perhaps.
Also when brother was here; Brick. Great concept, carried out quite well, but I left the theatre not 100% sold. However, I was very involved while it was playing out. I don't know. Joseph Gordon Levitt was wonderful. Guy who played "Brain" (was that his name?) super cute, my other new boyfriend.
Watched Titanic for the millionth time. Loved it; first time to not cry!
Fandango. One of the other half's favorite films. I LOVED it! One of Kevin's best performances. When I finally made the startling realization of who his lost love was becoming (best friend's wife), I nearly died. I couldn't stop sobbing. Once Suzy Amis and Kevin began their "fandango"; and all of the townsfolk disappeared, I was WAILING. That music by Pat Metheny Group! OMG! Looooooooved this movie so much. Even Judd Nelson was brilliant! A weird, innocent, intimate film. Probably will be added to my all time favorites list. Don't let the fact that my list has dozens and dozens of films on it; sway you. I really did like it!
Had a chunk of the cast over to view Mommie Dearest. I had been quoting it on the entire FL tour, so folks were itching to view it. As cheesy and wonderful as always. Each time I see it, I do tend to appreciate Faye Dunaway's performance more. The crazy places she has to take herself to; in order to reach the frenzies she shows on screen. No small feat.
Back to School was on Encore the other night. I'd forgotten how much I loved this movie. It used to play on HBO a thousand times a month; back in my preteen years. It actually holds up! You've got your usual 80's T&A junk, but there are some truly great moments; among them; Thornton's heavy (Burt; can't think of his last name; I almost said, Ward) taking over the fight in the bar w/ all of the football players. "You got a problem?" Sally Kellerman is awesome, and who could forget Sam Kinison's brief appearance? Brilliant! And what a super supporting cast, Ned Beatty, Edie McClurg, Adrienne Barbeau, Robert Downey Jr., M. Emmett Walsh, and Oingo Boingo!
I just asked the other half what other films we've seen recently, and neither of can remember. I know I've missed something! If I think of it, I'll spoil you; my readers w/ more in depth movie reviewing. No need for thanks!
