That Call Back

So, Saturday was the call back for that feature film deal. Again, it's not a paying gig, but I did have the chance to read the first 30 or so pages of the script while I waited to do my cold readings; this set my mind at ease. Pretty good; very descriptive and character driven. I hope I get it. How did my audition go? Phenomenal. I am not usually one to gloat about work I've done; well not most of the time, but I nailed; and I do mean NAILED the reading. I had to read a scene with the lead woman. I read for Steve; a nervous, superstitious writer who...well, I won't say anymore. That portion went well. I then sat around for what seemed like eons, and skipped ahead in the script to see what Steve does in later scenes. He only appears three times (I believe), but they're all interesting moments. I know I could do the role. I was finally given a second piece to read. It was a solo piece for Steve; actually taken from the second and final moments he appears and put into one monologue. Eerie, hysterical (not in a funny; but in a mental state of mind way), heavy stuff. I went off to a corner, and worked it out. When I went back in for this second go; the director again told me how pleased they were w/ my earlier work. I don't want to give away plot points or specific moments from the film, but I cannot imagine that I won't have a super good chance at getting the role. I really felt amazing about how it went. I think I even surprised myself. I fancy myself good at reading reactions; and I believe the director and camerawoman were quite taken w/ my interpretation. Let it be known, however, that in the past; when I have "nailed" auditions; or so I thought, I never again heard from the director. It's a toss-up. I have yet to hear the results; and I have been checking my email quite frequently. I won't be heartbroken; just disappointed if I don't get it. It will be a challenge if (when!) I get the part. It's very physical and very deep into the psyche of the character. It's gonna be awesome. On top of it all, since I wouldn't have a ton of screen time; I wouldn't have a huge time committment; or so I believe. Anyhoo. Keep your fingers crossed.

BTW, I was reading up on some of the other projects this company has done; and they have been "official selections" @ several local and national short film festivals.

"Steve" wouldn't happen to be a vomiting velociraptor perchance? Hmmm?? (Just kidding!)

Nope. He isn't; but they did say they would be willing to rewrite for the right actors. Maybe it will be added? Did I mention previously that they had me do the velociraptor in my initial audition? I do have it listed on my resume. I figured, why the hell not?
