Yvonne DeCarlo and Me...The Psychic

That voice. I'm sorry to see her go. She was stunningly beautiful, and quite an actress. Admittedly, I know very little of her work (Lily Munster), but what I've seen, certainly proves her power and acting stature. The strangest thing about her recent passing? Well, on Friday (or perhaps Saturday), I was browsing through my old VHS movies, looking for some fun old 80's horror crap to fall asleep to. I came across American Gothic. It's one of those late 80's slasher flicks. Not much for high quality, but a bit of fun charm and tads of originality. A group of late 20-somethings take a private plane trip for some weekend camping. Of course, their plane breaks down, and they are forced to land on a seemingly deserted island off the Pacific Northwest. They find a family that is stuck in the 1940's; two parents (in their late 60's) and three children (in their 40's). There's obvious incest and other hidden frights. Well, the two parents are Rod Steiger and Yvonne DeCarlo. It's a treat to see them both chew the scenery with such gusto. The point of this is to confirm that I am indeed psychic. Yvonne is simply the one to make this crystal clear. What are the chances that 4 days before her passing, I should go through my (shall we say) extensive film collection, choose a film I've not seen in many years, and decide that it should be my sleepy-time choice? I find it all strange. Am I reading too much into this? Me? No, not me. Well, perhaps. Yeah, let's face it. I'm a loser. At any rate, so long Yvonne. Time to get your 40 winks (one of her best lines in American Gothic).
