A Return to the Keypad...and Other News
All weekend long; I did very little that was constructive. Well, today I sat down w/ my latest screenplay; something I haven't looked @ in about 6 months. I started today off w/ about 7 pages; and ended my 3 hour writing session w/ 15. Not too shabby. I'm happy w/ my start; but need to really focus to get some major writing done. I've got tons of ideas for this story; and I think it'll be worthwhile once completed. I was about to say that it would be easy to sell, but I won't count my chickens before they've hatched.
On the French Toast front, the other half and I sat down w/ most of our CD's to figure out a temp soundtrack. A few tunes from The Rapture, Arachnophobia, and Birth have given a good idea of the sounds I want for certain sections. Once this is all completed, I will hand it over to the guy doing my score, Shafeeg; and get his opinions.
Our final day of the moving sale was completed yesterday. Good sales; for only a few people. About another 200 bucks; brings us to about a $1500.00 total for all the days. I'm quite happy w/ that. The remaining items are being distributed in several ways. Much of it will go to the Brown Elephant as donations (some of which we dropped off yesterday and the large majority of which will be dropped off by the other half tomorrow). Friend Clare was over yesterday; so she took a few things as well. Friend Serena will be stopping by for about 4 bags of items I thought she would use; and we set aside a couple of adt'l items for friends Chris and Jeff; who will be returning to our home this weekend. We'll also be listing some of our action figures on Ebay. Finally, we went through and set aside several items we decided we would like to keep. There, all accounted for. I think we'll have one more marathon session of purging before we call it quits. This will be much easier once most of the items we have to go...are actually gone.
We picked up a fancy-schmancy, professional set of poker chips today. My brother would be so proud. They came in a nice metal case. We even got a small discount from the cashier; since I inquired about his framed poster of "Zod"; the Terrence Stamp character from the Superman films. See, being a nerd paid off! Not sure if I notated (I'm sure I did), but we played two Texas Hold'em tournaments w/ Jeff and Chris last weekend; and plan on doing so again this weekend. Now we'll have the tools for a real game. In addition, our home is almost back into inspection order; albeit w/ a lot less clutter. It's a good feeling. Thus, our dining table is now open for play. Poker, money and friends. Good times.
I feel like crap right now. My throat feels tight; and I feel a bit nauseous.
I'm NOT pleased to return to the office tomorrow. Perhaps I'll give an accounting of all the nonsense happening at work in the past week. Or at least a brief one. We are now officially moved into our Greektown/West Loop office. It's a great space, but does little to cure the many pathetic ills that our company is currently facing. I don't know what to do. My time on Friday to get to work was just under an hour. Not as bad as I expected, but also much more than the old office. Plus, I can't drive to work, as street parking is non-existent. So many problems, and still my work and personal life are in a complete and difficult limbo. I'll save the other, juicier office gossip for later.
Cheers.
