I've been watching you on that exer-cycle...
That was random. Been a great while since I posted. Currently, the other half and I are "squatters" in our next door neighbor's place. Well, he doesn't live here anymore; he recently moved. The other half was over here doing some patch work on his walls; as he's planning to rent out the space (the neighbor; not the other half). It was convenient, so when our realtor scheduled two showings today (the first ones in many weeks), we took advantage. We were hoping we could hear through the walls; but as we've learned since moving in here, the units are quite sound-proof. I'd much rather have it that way!
I called in to work today. Just not feeling super. Not sick (hopefully not getting sick), just not 100% and feeling very tired. We spent some time this morning cleaning up the unit for the showings...I'm pooped. I'm still really loving the job; and it's been almost a month and half since I started. Apparently, the novelty factor is going for a record, cuz I'm still quite happy. Who'd a thunk it? Bonded w/ many folks yesterday; I was feeling giddy and also head-achey. It was a great day. I have a secret crush @ work. Okay, one of my co-workers knows, as does the other half. I'll keep it secret until we can have what Karyn White coins a "secret rendezvous". Tasty. Or, I'll just keep fantasizing, cuz God knows I don't have the balls (or the heart) to ever cheat. Blast the security of a (semi) :) stable relationship!
Two weekends ago, friends Jeff and Chris were in town. Poker, food, sass-back and fun abounded. Always a pleasure my boys!
Friday night we were invited to a pre-holiday pot-luck party @ friends David and Sonnett. We played video games, regailed one another w/ tales of the old south and ate like the zombies were-a-comin'. My turkey chili was a huge hit! For my part, the many items to be dunked in the simmering cheese fondue were the food highlight...oh yeah, and let me mention Sonnett's Captain Insan-O, ultra rich hot chocolate and homeade whipped cream. Lordy, lordy! I also was provided some footage by David from House of Black Wings. I am working on my reel; for that The Gauntlet virtual auditions. More on that in a moment. The more I see some of my work on that film, the more I feel pretty good about it. I'm anxious to see how it (my performance) sells to the audience.
I've asked friend Brit (daughter of my best bud Serena) to "star" in a scene I'm going to shoot for The Gauntlet auditions. I need a scene partner; and she seemed to fit the bill. I'll be playing a leacherous record exec who hits on a young, naive artist. Brit is 17, and practically a niece to me, so this will be odd. Both parents have given the okay, but man, how strange this will be. But, now that she played "Brit" in French Toast, she has the acting chops and the mindset to keep it all professional and awkwardness free. Hee. She's a pro. BTW, I have to kiss her neck. Weird, right?
Speaking of French Toast, still no completed score. I'm getting antsy. And I know for a fact that my sound guy is getting there as well. Time to lay down the law, and get it done. It's tasty, by God.
Went to an interesting event w/ friend Harry on Thursday night. It's a "premiere" for the new type of Kodak film...yes, for movies. I didn't get most of what they were talking about, but it was fun nonetheless. I felt kind of...in the know. Fancy, if you will. Then it was the networking, drinking and eating portion of the evening. I was able to chat up an exec from a new production company out of Holland, MI called Tic Tock. She formerly worked @ Paramount and Lion's Gate, and was very open w/ advice and information. They don't accept unsolicited scripts, but she gave me the okay to forward a short synopsis for Sid's Apple. Who knows what will come of it, but hell, it's worth a shot. She informed me that they are producing a film currently with a first time filmmaker @ the helm; w/ a million buck budget. And of course, I got to hang w/ Harry, whom I haven't seen in a while. I understand that wife Elizabeth is due in February. Welcome to the fastest growing club around; "Michael's Friends Who are All Having Babies or Have Had Babies in the Past Year or Upcoming Year, etc." You catch my drift. Soooo many of my friends are popping them out, that literally (this is no joke), I am unable to keep track. It's clearly an epidemic. Whew!
Perhaps more later, but for now, I'm going to sleep, relax and enjoy my unexpected day off from work. It's "under the covers" for me. Ah, yes, precious sleep. Dream along w/ me now.
