Day Job Riff Raff

I've worked two days now for my new part time gig (that should have been a full time gig; that should have been a full time management gig...oy). All's okay so far. My commute is anywhere from 30-45 minutes. Not bad, considering the times I would be up against in Chicago...so, I'm okay w/ that. Plus, it lets me get to know this new area. Neat. Most of the folks seem pretty cool too. Clientele? Very friendly thus far.

The store is currently training some brand new management folks. Hmm. Okay. Not sure what that means; since I was being considered for a management job and also, wasn't there some kind of freeze? Something's not sitting right.

When I started working in the Chicago location, I was told that I could not wear cargo pants. Okay. That left me w/ 3 pairs of khaki/dress pants to circulate for my shifts. Not too bad; since I was just part time.

Well, this new store has a few other ideas about dress code. Allow me to vent. I'm very poor right now (which I explained to the big boss) and I cannot afford to be buying a whole new wardrobe for a part time gig (that should have been a full time gig; that should have been a full time management gig); especially one that pays me what it does. New wardrobe...not high on my list of priorities. I wasn't a jerk about it. I'm not that way. It's a high end store in a high end mall; in a high end town. I get it. But give me more money (say by paying me more, or by giving me the full time or full time management gig I was transferring for) and I'll happily get different clothes. I was told that the other managers would be informed that I was aware of the policy, but that I was po' white trash...or whatever. We'll see how this all pans out, but I gotta say, I'm irritated by all of this.

Other day job info. That gay porn site I applied for...to be a writer? They replied. Nothing great. Just that they DID get my info. I do so love confirmations. Yeah.

In the meantime, I am still looking for other work, as is the other half.

Nonsense.
