We've Got Bugs!

Day Two coming to a close. We don’t have internet right now, so this will be posted after I’ve actually written it (10:52pm—4-1-08). We’re in our hotel room; watching Anderson Cooper. We’ve had a long day. We’re currently just outside Tunica, MS, just south of Memphis, TN. We’re @ Horseshoe Casino/Hotel; in a great room…again, for free. Sweet! We started the morning in Metropolis, IL, left there @ about 11 am; but not before checking out the Superman Museum (which was quite cool; such items as Christopher Reeves’ cape, Marlon Brando’s lifemask, Terrence Stamp’s leather thigh-high boots from Superman II, the original phone booth from the television series). Our souvenir there was a green painted rock; that glows in the dark; i.e. a piece of kryptonite. We got some fun photos; including each of us next to a towering statue of Superman. A fun little stop before we headed south. 5 states today; Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. This was all in a matter of about 5 hours. This is our shortest leg of the journey. We’ll be in this hotel room for 2 days. Tonight, we put in 10 bucks to be in a slot tournament; first time for both of us. Great fun and tired arms. Neither of us won, but we got a free buffet out of the deal. We’re right near the mighty Mississippi; and we saw the results of all the flooding that’s been going on around here…all the way down today. Freakishly high water levels; just off of the highway. Scary. The title of this blog comes from the fact that we are far enough south to have to put up w/ the constant bug smackings into the windshield. Lots of greenery on the way as well…getting greener by the mile. Nice. Tomorrow, we’ve got the choice of sitting around in the hotel room, relaxing, chillin’…or we might take the road back to the north, to take a look around Memphis…perhaps some Graceland?

My stress levels have reached a lower level now…thank goodness. We’re far enough removed from the wackiness of the move. For now, I’ll just enjoy our complete detachment from reality.

More later…it’s time to relax.
