WTF?
Nothing's changed. I'm not sure what I expected...or am I wanting too much from just over a week? We have to find a place for ourselves. Not that I feel unwelcome, or that our host is telling us to take a hike. I just don't think I can totally relax or "settle in" until I'm in my own space.
Still only jobs on the horizon, but no start dates confirmed. More errands, and neccessary items being taken care of. Opened a new bank account, purchased some new work clothes, etc. I haven't heard back from the Resto big boss yet, but she was scheduled to return today (to the area or to the store?--I'm unsure), so I'll call them tomorrow.
I'm feeling a bit irritable today; and unsure of what the hell is going on. I don't know how to make things move ahead. I am really not wanting to take a day job. Can't I find a way to make a living just by blogging? Acting? Writing? Directing? Lazing around by the pool all day? Oy.
Joined FaceBook over the weekend. Not sure why. Don't I have enough networking sites to contend with? Jeez. However, was nice to find some folks I have never seen on MySpace, so that was kind of nifty.
The theatre company I may have had a basic-degrees of separation-connection to; already had their season auditions...two weeks ago. Missed out on that. I guess I'll still send my info, and they can file it, or toss it. I also will be sending out my H/R to the few agencies I've located online...there's about 6 or so. See what comes of that.
I'm feeling really down right now. I guess I figured this was all going to be so brand new, and instead, I feel as though we're falling into our old Chicago habits. Was I being naive; believing that a move would shake us to our very cores? and make us completely change our way of life? Of course I was, cuz in a week; nothing has changed; except the temperature.
In other news, I found a networking site for Phoenix filmmakers...joined it; and they have a new feature being cast in the next month or so. We'll see. Also, there's a contest (another one?) for 10-15 page short script, the top six winners to be included in a feature (six shorts into one feature) all revolving around one topic...kind of a Short Cuts or Four Rooms. We'll see what happens here as well.
Boy, am I irritated...about pretty much everything right @ this moment. Lord help us all.
In SUPER GREAT NEWS!, the condo closing happened on the 17th. It's out of our hands. For the love of the Lord, it's out of our hands! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. Super special thanks to our realtor Denise, for handling all of this in our absence. I can't express to her the mounds of gratitude. Of course, I don't believe she reads this.
In other real estate news, we've checked out two apartment complexes...both promising, but we are actually reconsidering; and may move again toward buying; rather than renting. How this happens, I don't know, but it's definitely been thrown onto the table.
A few observations about the Phoenix area...at least as far as what we've seen. We've only really travelled the East Valley area (how cool am I?...I am referring to it as the locals would), so we don't have a completely clear picture yet.
1) Crappy ass drivers, and from the news today, apparently lots of road rage abounds here...including gun usage. Nice.
2) Never have I seen so many shopping malls, shopping areas, strip malls, and shopping of all kinds in one small area. I'm afraid of what more we'll find when we trek to other parts of the metro area. Not to worry, as I love to shop...it's just nice to have some money to partake in such sins.
3) Overall, the people seem pretty nice. Strangers seem willing to chat up w/ you.
4) Since we are in/near a college town (ASU w/ its 52,000 students), we are surrounded by the largest number of "hi's" that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. For those that don't know the phraseology of myself and the other half; a "hi" is the keyword for male hotness. It is our alert system. When one or the other sees a particularly fine male specimen, the word "hi" is uttered. This allows the other to take a gander at the meat in our vicinity. Boy, howdy, are there a huge number of "hi's" here. Everywhere we go... It's a veritable smorgasbord. With all that is making me question life, this bit of joy keeps me balanced.
