Who the Hell is Sarah Palin Part Two
Just watched her first appearance on the world stage.
First. I think she has a lot of work to do on her public speaking. It was uninspired and amateurish. I now am MORE excited to see her go against Joe Biden in the Vice Presidential debates. It's gonna be a blood bath.
Second. The other half said it perfectly. He compared it to stage performers. The Democrats would be considered Broadway quality. Polished, confident and getting great reviews. Then there's this year's Republicans. Their get-togethers (including young cheerleaders), and their nominees look like a bad high school play that you sit through, just because your kid and their friends are stuck in there amongst the ensemble. Can't the Republican followers see how plain this all looks? Today's announcement, and speech from Palin were painful. I didn't buy the ticket together. Unlike Biden and Obama, they don't match. It doesn't look genuine, just further confirming that this is a stunt. In addition, the families didn't seem to gel. You put the Biden clan and the Obama family together, and they glow. I buy it totally. Certainly, the fact that I'm a Democrat, I'm already against McCain. There's no spark in the Republicans. They almost seem bored and just going through the motions. Palin's speech was just flat. Even her words seemed "high school". Not a great moment. I actually had thoughts while watching that the whole campaign, sadly seemed...pathetic. However, I did make note of the fact I am a bit afraid...not of Palin or McCain, but that the American public can be very tunnel-visioned. She's a woman, she's conservative, she has a son in Iraq, and she has a baby w/ Down's Syndrome. These are qualities that some will like, but they don't translate to experience in government. I can't help wondering what will happen if/when McCain bites the dust.
I also see the age discrepancy (McCain could be Palin's father) as an issue. Certainly, age makes no difference in political views, but an age difference that big, doesn't allow for a real connection. Maybe I'm wrong, and I'm certain there are exceptions, but in general, generational gaps can raise problems.
This choice doesn't seem to make sense. And less than two months before the big day, it doesn't allow enough time for the public to get to know Palin intimately. It's too late. And I think it's over for the Republicans.
We can hope can't we?
PS, Palin does have something going for her. She's cute, and her husband is HOT! That is all.

Yeah, she's a former pageant gal. If the GOP doesn't think this stunt is as transparently desperate and misguided as reasonable folks know it to be, they are even dumber than I give them credit for.
Still too burned over the last 8 years to be more than cautiously optimistic, though. Isn't that sad?
I am LMAO.
Hello, President Obama and Vice President Biden!
