Who Goes There?
Nothing to this title...at least, not on the surface. Maybe something deeper. Who knows?
Updates. That's about all I seem to have in me lately. Just don't have the energy to blog on the same levels as I once did. Day job nonsense and all.
Speaking of day job, it seems to be getting more tolerable. I'm so thirsty for kudos, I'm getting excited by niceties thrown at me by my boss and by the District Manager. Excitement about doing well @ a job I don't necessarily want. But, I'm glad I'm doing a good job. Shows that I still have a work ethic (if only outside my intended career). Onto my script...nothing in a long time. I'm pissed that I can't get things going again. It'll come. I believe that. Simon Baker showed up on one of my favorite websites; "Shirtless Male Celebrities". Here's a link. All of his promo work for The Mentalist (which I hear is doing quite well--I haven't been watching...I'm not much of a fan), has kept him in the public eye. He was on The View last week (I already reported on that). Anyway, here's that link.

Enjoy. I know I did.
Fascinating bit of news. The other half is off to Palm Springs for a romantic getaway; while I stay behind to work all weekend. More details are available, if you're interested.
A few more movies of the past week.
Quantum of Solace--Loved it. Action packed, a hot-as-sin Daniel Craig (he's soooo my new boyfriend). I told the other half that I haven't been this turned on by a screen celeb since I was in my David Duchovny-obsessed almost Viagra like trance in the late 90's. Great fun, awe-inspiring action sequences. The best part? We saw this in the ArcLight's Dome; @ 3pm today. There were 5 other patrons. So, we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. A great time; and to use a cliche--made me fall in love w/ the movies again...I think mostly due to the fact that every piece worked out. No crowds, no talkers, no cell phones, no children, and a great product.
Possessed--Another Joan Crawford flick. The more I see, the more I love this woman. In this one, she plays a jilted lover, who has one horrible event piled on top of the last one...over and over, until she finally goes insane. Joan got her Oscar for Mildred Pierce, and this one came a couple of years later. She was nominated again, and highly worthy. Some very tense, terrifying moments, and Joan is in top form. Her best moment is in a restaurant where she is made aware that her step-daughter is now in love w/ her former lover--the one she initially went "mad" for. Her laughter is uber creepy. My Joan-ucation is coming to fruition.
Dog Soldiers--Neil Marshall's first film. He's the guy behind my beloved The Descent. This wasn't very good, but had a very promising opening sequence. Some fun effects, and the monsters were frightening, but the dialogue and acting were quite awful. Good to know that he improves (although I haven't yet seen Doomsday). Also, Marshall's clearly seen Night of the Living Dead and Aliens one to many times, right down to the boarding up of the house and fleeing to the basement (Night of the Living Dead); to the "let's count how many rounds we have left for our weapons" moment (Aliens). This is no surprise, since he had so many echoes of other great films in The Descent (The Shining, Deliverance and Aliens--again).
Friends with Money--The awesome cast is assembled, and a pretty good script is completed. Great performances all around (but Frances McDormand takes the top prize). It seems to have that indie film/big stars take a pay cut, wacky characters w/ snappy but still realistic dialogue vibe, but it was still quite entertaining. Catherine Keener just fascinates me...in anything she does.
We had a WONDERFUL time @ friends Chris and Ami for Turkey Day. I drank a lot. When I say a lot; I mean A LOT. I don't drink often, but I honestly lost count that day. Friends Lorri and Jason were also on hand. I think everyone had a really fun time. A bit of poker, a bit of Jason's board game "Zombies" (a fave while we were staying w/ them back in May--yes, May), and an absolutely fabulous meal from Ami. It was a vegetarian meal, so I must admit I was apprehensive, but seriously, it was SO GOOD! Lorri also brought a Kahlua chocolate cake. Need I say more? It was a much needed relaxing, gas-inducing day before Black Friday; which honestly wasn't as wacky as I had expected. My store had a good day, but it was only always steady, never insane. Thank you, Lord.
I wonder if I'm missing any other news. Nope. Nothing coming to mind. So @ this time, I will end this fascinating entry. I'm sure it'll be another week before I return to this place, so please calm yourselves, breathe and know that it's only a temporary hiatus. It'll be okay.
I have tomorrow off as well, and by God, I'll enjoy it. Later, y'all.
