Locations Spotted #3-4
I was told by friend Mary; that the house from A Nightmare on Elm Street was on Genessee (sp?); just a few neighborhoods away from me. This was confirmed via online sources, and the other half drove me to work yesterday afternoon. We took a slight detour; and about 5 minutes from our own garage, we drove past Nancy Thompson's home; and just kitty corner; across the street (just as it was in the original film) was Glen's (Johnny Depp's) home. I didn't have the time to stop and take photos (also, the owners of Nancy's house were on the lawn). I will no doubt take the time to return and take some photos. It was a little surreal to see the home that I have known for so long; and so very well. Let's all remember that A Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty much the beginning of my horror fascination. This house is part of my life. It looked pretty much the same as it did in the film (in my brief drive-by), but indeed, much smaller. Later, I'll take the time to realize that Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp; along w/ Wes Craven and the rest of the cast and crew; worked their tails off; creating one of my all time fave films; right where I will (eventually) stand. How exciting. How strange. How nerdy. That is all.
In our near future, we will be taking a journey north to Simi Valley to see another milestone location in my movie loving history. The Simi Valley area we will visit is known in fictional terms as Cuesta Verde. Sweet!
