Meh...
I read that "meh" has officially been added to the dictionary; meaning, "Who cares?".
Today I got the day off from work. I was @ the physical therapist; for the third day in a row. My shoulder's feeling better, but I am scheduled again for Monday morning.
I got a call from the other half (while @ the therapist) that I had been cut for the day. Been lots of folks going home early, and many other shifts being cut. This is a little scary to me. On a lighter note @ work, I was the top seller in our district for the third month in a row.
I've got a new idea for a possible web series. Nothing more than ideas in my head, but thought I'd throw it out there.
No further work on the Simon Baker script. What else is new...
Planning a meeting w/ friend Chris next week sometime for further work on our co-project.
I've gotten more work done on the new website; but since I'm dealing w/ flash, it's slow going...my computer ain't what she used to be.
I met a screenwriter @ the store last week, so I flat out asked her what would be her advice for a "newbie". She said to write a script. I advised her that I was working on my second. She said to get an honest opinion from someone in the industry. Have them read it. I immediately thought of friends Patrick and Kate; both on the inside here in Hollywood. They both agreed to read it; and I have sent it off to them. I'm anxiously awaiting their honest reactions.
The other half and I got rid of our land line, saving lots of bucks each month. We turned around and spent a small fraction of that to add some movie channels to our existing cable. Allow me to rationalize for a moment. We don't go out much, well, cuz we be po'. It was nice, as we've already seen some new stuff.
I finally saw; all the way through for the first time; Footloose. No doubt one of those films that, had I seen it in the 80's, would be on my top faves list. As it was, I enjoyed it...homoeroticism and all. It was cheesy and over the top. The soundtrack was awesome of course, and there were plentiful male butt cheeks in the shower scene. How could it go wrong? Awful in the best possible way.
The Invasion. This movie was panned, didn't do well; box office-wise. What was the deal w/ all of that? It's nothing that will change my life, but I found it suspenseful, well-acted, paranoid, and action packed. What was wrong with this movie? Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig added definite star quality, and the child actor was quite good. A perfect example of why not to listen to the critics and lack of audience response; and give things a shot on your own. Worth a look; totally fer sure.
The Incredible Shrinking Woman. I remember this film as a kid. It's been forever since I had the chance to enjoy it. Lily Tomlin is, of course, brilliant, and the effects stand up pretty well. The whole next day I was singing the song for "Galaxy Glue". Classic.
Friends Mike and Karyn are on their way here for a scouting mission; next weekend. I will get to have one full day off while they are here, so I'm excited to take them around, or at least have lunch w/ them. Hurry! Get here safely!
I wish there were more to report, but there's really not. I've been irritable over the past few days, with no real reason behind the crankiness. Oh, I know...perhaps the rain we've had for 2 days straight. It's amazing how quickly you become spoiled in LA weather. A little rain, and I'm dealing not only w/ pissiness, but also with arthritis. What am I, 90?
Later, y'all.
