Battlestar Galactica

So I was not too sure about this new show. I was not an avid fan of the original, as I was just a kid. Perhaps too much went over my head (some things never change). We watched the first two episodes of the series, and then a day or two later, watched the entire 4 hour miniseries, which helped to clear up many questions. I am shocked to learn that it is addictive and very good. I don't believe I have ever seen Edward James Olmos in anything, not even his Oscar nominated turn in Stand and Deliver. So I am pleasantly surprised by his great acting. Everyone else is equally as good, including Mary McDonnell, who I never got very excited about. The effects are great, the whole concept captivating, and it is such a quiet series. The battle sequences seem muted (we are in outer space, after all), and there is always this sense of calm, even in the lighter sections. I did not want to add another show to my list of must sees each week, but...here we are.

I was captivated by Battlestar too. It seemed very grim and real. I liked that. You gotta catch the UFO special on ABC on Feb 24th, too. Could be good.
