Aunt Gladys

The other half and I went to the Brown Elephant. It is a second hand place that sells clothes, music, toys, knick knacks, kitchen stuff, pretty much everything. Nothing caught our eye, so we started to head out. As we were leaving, one of the staff went by with a cart of new items, about to place them on the shelves for sale. There was a small collection of different types of knick knack turtles. They were all cute, some of them from overseas. Someone had just recently brought them to be donated. We purchased all of them, for a total of about 35 bucks. As we were getting them wrapped up @ the counter, the man helping us told us that there were many others, but that they were broken upon arrival. Apparently, the woman who brought them in for donation, did not get immediate service, and finally had had enough, so she threw the bag into the employee area, thus breaking many of the pieces she was donating. My issue with this, other than the fact that this woman is clearly a bitch, is that someone, perhaps this woman's great (late) Aunt Gladys had taken many years to build her collection of turtles. Perhaps this woman was left to clean out Aunt Gladys' dusty shelves after her passing, and this left her a w/ a little resentment. If so, it is probably better that Aunt Gladys treads in the great beyond, cuz clearly she was not loved here. This constitutes item #403 on my list of nasties that force me to weep for the future of the human race. Aunt Gladys, we have your turtles. They will be loved and well cared for here. They will never be thrown or discarded. They will be dusted (not regularly) but enough to keep suffocation @ bay. The turtles send their love as well, and want you to take a well deserved break. Put your Pledge and rag away. Sit back and relax.
