Acting Wonders

I have discovered (amazing that I am thinking of these things as I do the work of my unfulfilling day job) that as I mature as an actor, the more it seems I can go up on my lines. I was thinking back to high school. I was Scrooge in A Christmas Carol in my senior year. Lots of lines, but no flubs (that I can recall). Sure, my performance was pretty horrendous looking back, but I did not miss any lines. Is it because it was less organic when I was younger? Is it because we did two shows, whereas my latest show was about 32 performances? More chances to f***up? It seems that back then, it was all a bit more "robotic". You memorized your lines during "play practice", but never truly inhabited the character you were playing. Even in the show that just ended, Stardust, I had several smaller roles, but felt like I was able to connect to them, even if they only appeared for a few brief moments. I recall no such connection to shows in high school. Yes, I do believe that as I age, my acting obviously gets better, but so does the chance for mishaps. Am I getting senile this early on?
