Weird Weekend
Friday started w/ a massive snowstorm in our area; and me calling in to the office; stating I would not be braving the nastiness out of doors. It worked out well, as I was able to clean the house; in preparation for a visit from friends Jeff & Chris. The other half did his workday from home; as scheduled, but the physical office in the 'burbs was closed down. We ordered food that evening. By the time friend Jeff showed up (his partner Chris was staying in a hotel downtown w/ family), the other half was feeling pretty lousy. I figured it was his usual "I don't feel good" sympathy search, but it turned out to be all to real. Upon Jeff's arrival; the other half retired to the downstairs bathroom for some serious yacking. He then said he felt better; sat upstairs w/ Jeff and I for a time. We then retired to bed; and he was up about 4 more times throughout the night; repeating his first activity. My poor boy. Needless to say; sleep was not very deep or useful. We were up @ 1am so that he could sit up and watch TV (we watched I Shouldn't Be Alive for an hour before falling back asleep; great show by the way). Before we went to bed; on the second bout of vomiting; I called Clare of House of Black Wings; and let her know I would not be coming to the shoot on Saturday. My boy needed me. Once the morning came around; friend Jeff went downtown to spend a fun day w/ his partner Chris and family. The other half and I layed around; and his final bout was @ about 4am. He was weak, crabby and full of sore muscles (understandably so). By the evening, Jeff and Chris had returned here; and the other half was feeling better; but still very weak. I called and emailed director Davide and DP Clare; that I would be staying home today; to make sure the other half would be okay. Jeff, Chris and I went to a quick breakfast/lunch @ 11am; and they were then on their way back to Michigan.
The other half is feeling better today; and was able to get some food in his system (yesterday was only a plain piece of toast). We believe it was food poisoning. We're unsure of what.
I feel completely distanced from both the film and from my day job. It feels like it's been so long since I've done either. It was a weird weekend.
I don't know if it's sympathy pains; but I feel ill now. I just downed some Emergen-C. A good night's sleep should help out. I begin training my new employee tomorrow. I feel a great need to get back to normalcy.
