There's a Camel on the Wall

Truly there is.

My blogging duties have gone to the dogs over the past few months. I still feel as if my mind is recooperating from the past month's many events. My first week of being back to work was uneventful (aside from the ultimate clarity that my sanity is in great jeopardy by staying where I am). I feel restless. Once again, things are on the move. Somehow, some way, things are really going to change.

Thursday night, I had an interesting evening with some worms. Film-types. Squirmy. About 5000 of them. Director David (House of Black Wings) and DP Clare invited me to film some behind-the-scenes footage of some insert shots they had planned. Our "background artists" were very cooperative; if a little slow getting back to their first positions for another take. It was another mini-reunion for the very core crew of HOBW; and as always; it was a fun evening. I was also treated to the first few minutes of edited footage for the film. It looks very promising; even though my character hasn't shown up yet. :) There was also a redone trailer for the cast and crew. Very nice. Very exciting.

On the French Toast front, I've been very lax about working on it. I'm a bit angry w/ myself; as I'm probably only a few hours work from having a rough cut of the film. Once done, I'll have a few people over (mostly friends David and Clare) to view this first cut; get some suggestions and advice. I'm not sure how it's going to be. I feel good about most of it, but no longer objective. I've also created a page on "youtube"; where the completed trailer can be found. I've already gotten one "subscriber" to my page; meaning they will be informed when I add anything new. What does that mean? Hell if I know. Tomorrow should be a good opportunity to get some more work done; if I can find the motivation. Still possible tomorrow is a trip to the movies to see The Simpsons first foray into movie-dom. This could spell disaster for a possible work day on "Toast".

Last week, the other half and I sat down to watch the director's cut of Dances with Wolves. It seemed appropriate; considering how many of the props/locations/costumes we saw while we visited my homeland; SD. It wasn't as good as I remembered. It was indeed epic; and beautiful, but not as engaging as I recalled. Keep in mind, however, that the last time I saw it was in the theatre; 17 years ago. Alas. The highlight was Mary McDonnell. Perhaps it was my recent Battlestar Galactica marathon that placed her in such a brilliant light (her performance as President Roslin on Battlestar Galactica is something to bow down to), but she was easily the best piece of the 4 hour puzzle that is the director's cut of Dances with Wolves.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List ended its third season this last Tuesday. I didn't catch the season closer until today. I adore this show; and the more I see her, the more I adore Kathy herself. What a great time. She's also up for another Emmy award; her second nomination. Let's let her win. She deserves it.

It's almost 12:30am. Bedtime? or more blogging? I guess we'll see.
