Talk About a Bust!

So, we opened our moving sale up to our friends from 10am-4pm today; so that those in the know would get a headstart on some of our cool belongings. Out of the fifty or so (was it that many? I didn't count), about 3 replied that they would be by; w/ friends/spouses, etc. How many showed up? One. Thank you to David for his purchases; but also for his short visit. We talked shop and discussed movies; as is our norm. No complaints; I love discussing film. At any rate, he was the only soul who showed. I don't want to toot my own horn, but we DO have some fabulous, fun stuff on our auction block (so to speak). There's stuff for everyone. We are having the sale again tomorrow from 11-4pm. I sent a second email to all of the fifty or so (was it that many? I didn't count...yes, I meant to repeat this), this evening; stating that if they missed out on today; there's still plenty of good stuff to be had! How could there not be? Again...one friend showed. I don't say this to sound cruel, or to lay a guilt trip. I think it's just a matter of knowing that some of the belongings we've held onto for so long, will end up in the hands of someone we know. This may sound strange, but it seems much more comforting than just dropping off the stuff as an anonymous donor somewhere. Where does it end up? In the end, I'm sure a great deal of our stuff will be donated, but I really wanted to give it a chance. It's barely even about the money. Sure, a couple of bucks is nice, but who expects to make a mint on a garage sale? I'm also quite happy to have strangers pick up our stuff (perhaps tomorrow; @ our moving sale?). This way I know who took what; and I see that my things are getting a home. I'm neurotic. I'm pathetic. Call it as you see it. I want my meager belongings to go softly into that good night. I felt bad after today's turn of events; and I'm really hoping for a good turnout tomorrow (friends OR neighbors). Am I weird?
