What a Day
Had the day off today. Got a lot of stuff done.
Found out that the other half's grandmother died this morning. The other half isn't one to show a great deal of emotion; although I don't think there would have been much other than what he is showing...relief. Both he and his mother are certainly sad, but happy that their loved one is no longer in pain. She had been sick for quite some time. I had met her only twice, but she seemed like a kind, feisty (it's meant as a compliment) lady...much like the other half (aside from the lady part). Also, she was 93, so it wasn't as if she was taken so early and had not lived a long, fruitful life. That's always a tacky thing to say when someone you love is hurting; but it certainly seems true. So, grandma...you're suffering is over. Off you go; into the wild blue yonder. I just hope my boy knows that he has me to console him...just as he was here to comfort me when my dad died earlier this year. The only difference is that he's not a sniveling, snotty cry-baby about it. But, he should know that he can be if he needs to. Sorry for your loss mom-in-law; and sorry for your loss my boy. Mana.
BTW, she will be cremated this evening; and an impromptu prayer service was held. No ceremony, no burial...so no need for us to fly out to PR. I just wish I could give his mom a hug...and that the other half would let me give him one. Damn his pride! :)
One other thing. When I first met his grandma, there was some family tension...won't go into the details...We left in a rush, so I didn't get to chat w/ her. However, she called the other half a few hours later to talk...and told him to tell me that she loved me. We had only met for the first time that day. I always thought that was special.
G'night.
