So Long, Estelle
Was watching TV when the breaking news came in. My dear, darling Sophia Petrillo...the amazing Estelle Getty died this morning. Tears were shed. I know she had been ill for quite some time, so I hope she's in a healthier, better place. I've been a giant fan of The Golden Girls since they were on NBC back in the day...originally. I was just a kid. And their constant airplay on Lifetime over the past many years has been a joy to me. I can NEVER get enough of this show. This is one of those rare sitcoms from the 80's that still holds up. I still laugh out loud, cry real tears, and wish I knew these women personally (both the characters and the actresses)...every time I sit down to join their television madness. Estelle's Sophia was a pistol...grumpy, tactless, but still the ultimate awesome mother and friend, she perfectly fit her niche in this group of retired spunky ladies. She hasn't made a personal appearance in a great many years, but she will be missed very deeply. My grandma was irreplaceable, but if I could ask for one extra granny, it would have been Sophia. So long Estelle.

Mr. Klug!!
Just jumped on your Facebook profile and linked to your blog. Lovin it, I must say. I especially like the start sitings and the zombie info. I, along with you, mourn the passing of Estelle. She is in a better place, a golden place in the heavens now. Hope all is well in La La Land. -Lisa
