Score: Life--303 Klug--Negligible

Not that I'm a downer, but we're in a pinch...again. It's almost laughable @ this point. Still no jobs. The other half has been interviewing like mad, and I've been doing my fair share as well. I had an interview for an admin. assistant @ the Los Angeles Film School. It's a 20 minute walk away, and I can wear jeans. It also pays well. I will know by mid-next week. Could that be more perfect?

I also have another interview on Monday @ The Container Store. I'm really jazzed about this job, so I hope this third (yes third) interview will seal the deal. My rationalizing (trying to stay positive) mind allows me to believe that they wouldn't be going this gang-busters on interviews if they were only hiring for part-timers. I hope this means I'm being considered for full time.

Other things going on. I had an audition for another indie television pilot. I was called in for the lead, which was nifty. However, all of the other gents around me were svelt, pretty boys with square jawlines. So, in that regard, I guess I probably stood out. It's a no-paying gig, and it shoots in October. Who knows where the hell I'll be by then. Perhaps living under a bridge in a Whirlpool refrigerator box. Sure, I doubt it will ever get to that, but things are just not super great. The audition went well. I was off book, read once and the guys seemed nice.

Strange thing is, I've been in a great mood for the past couple of days. Why? Who the hell knows. I can't understand feelings of elation...mostly cuz I don't have them very often. Bipolar much?

If you're having problems accessing my website, that's cuz it hasn't been paid. Thus, it's on a temporary to permanent hiatus. Whatever. Once things got settled and I had an income, it was going to be replaced anyway.

I'm watching Aliens on cable right now. I like this movie.

Speaking of movies, we've seen a couple of goodies over the past week.
1) Grand Hotel. The Barrymore/Garbo/Crawford vehicle from MGM in the 1930's. I loved, loved, loved this! It took some time for it to get going. I have the same issue w/ the golden oldies as I do w/ foreign films (subtitled). It takes me about 10 minutes to get into the sound and/or different dialogue or foreign language, etc. Once I was in, I was hooked. Crawford was simply stunning. Garbo was great fun, and the Barrymore folks (John and Lionel) were more than I could have asked for. I don't believe I've ever seen them in action before, so this was a real treat. Lionel as the dying man, living his dreams no matter the monetary cost, was adorable and his performance very moving. The moment when Crawford is persuaded to dance w/ Lionel's character; just to make him feel better. Lovely. Just lovely. But it all comes back to my lovely Joan. I simply must educate myself on the rest of her work. She's just so damn beautiful, and oh-so talented. Yeah, Grand Hotel.

2) Witchcraft. It's a Lon Chaney Jr (although he's listed as Lon Chaney in the credits) film. Nothing spectacular, but fun and with some genuine creepy moments. Two feuding families. One is building a new complex over the graves of the other family. Anger and voodoo and dead witches follow. Worth a look, if only for the cheese.

On to other things. Biden was selected as Obama's second in command. I'm THRILLED. I believe that any lingering doubts I might have had about Obama, have miraculously been swept away with Biden's appointment. Go! Go! Go! Obama & Biden 2008!

I had a read-through/rehearsal for that other project. I met the director a week ago, and we met the other two cast members on Tuesday. I think this should be fun. Appears as though I'll be shooting on Sept. 7th, and will hopefully get some rehearsal in before we shoot.

Friend Justin's project (the one I AD'd for back in June) was a no-go this weekend. Scheduling issues and a death in the family of one of the cast. I'll see when that starts up again.

Later y'all.
