You Go, Girl!

What a great evening for us Democrats. First, the wonderfully powerful speech by still recovering Ted Kennedy. It was a fabulous tribute film to him; followed by a surprisingly agile speech. No way you could have known that he was so fresh out of the operating room.

Michelle Obama was just spectacular. She was polished, passionate and genuine. I was crying by the end. I can't quite tell you why, but I believe it is the fact that I am now 100% sold on Obama's plan for change. If Biden's appointment confirmed I was on board, Michelle cemented my backing of his campaign. I sat there listening to her, and truly had a sense that things are really about to change for our country; in every possible way. I believe it. I bought it. I'm ready, and based on the reaction of the crowd, so did everyone else. I hope the remainder of the week goes as well as tonight. My main concern is that Bill doesn't offer up any bitterness. I believe my gal Hill is past that now, and will certainly make that clear tomorrow. At any rate, Michelle's speech and brief exchange between Barack in Kansas City (and her daughters) was inspiring and fresh and amazingly, not one ounce of cheese was used to make this a triumphant moment.

I have hope. I have hope for all of us. It's gotta happen. It will happen. Change is afoot.

I also must note how strongly it struck me tonight...and basically the first time since the campaign began, that we could quite possibly have a black family in The White House within the next half year. Of course I'm not blind to the fact that this is ground-breaking, but tonight, seeing the girls on stage with mom, and chatting w/ dad via satellite, made things so clear. This could actually happen. This brings me back to the hope I have within. Have we actually come this far? Really? Is that possible? Amazing. With all of the things I find to complain about, the horrible things in this world that I must take issue with, I now can put those things aside. The ball of change is rolling folks. It's about time. Congrats to us all.

Barack. I'm on your side.
