Sarah's Speech...yada, yada, yada!
Some items of note.
Let's get this out of the way. Her husband and 19 year old son are hot. The father of her soon to be born grandchild; is also way hot. There, that's done.
First, I can't stand to hear her speak. The accent and tambor of her speaking voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
This was completely negative. While Obama and his folks didn't veer away from "attacks", they were always about issues and their opponent's takes on such topics. Palin's just plain under the belt nastiness was completely out of line. Her comments about Barack's time in community service were just not needed.
There was no hope and no inspiration in her words, or her delivery. Yes, she delivered the speech almost flawlessly, but it did nothing to make me pause. She didn't seem excited about what's coming.
I have to admit, her comment about the "Greek columns being taken back to the studio backlot", or something like that, was hysterical. She was, of course, referencing the sets last week on the DNC. Score one for the beauty queen.
I hate to bring this up, but I'm getting just plain irritated by the over use of McCain's captivity in Vietnam. There's no doubt he served his country bravely, and that he went through sheer hell. But honestly, other than determination, I don't see how that translates to him being able to take on this high office. Also, the fact that it is constantly being used as an excuse for anything and everything, has become tiresome.
I found the speech boring, uninspiring, and frankly, dirty. No, not in the way that I want to do several members of her family, but that there were far too many jabs. Again, I don't think the Democrats did more than point out faults in policy, not make deeply hurtful insults. That's what they were, insults.
The entire evening, including supporters and speakers, left me happy to be on the other side. I guess I appreciate more the "heart on their sleeves" approach of the Democrats, cuz watching the Republicans; certainly in their element, seemed boring, unemotional and disconnected. Even watching McCain greet Palin following her speech, was painful. No connection. I think back to the many times that Obama and Biden have greeted one another; and it's caught on camera. Either they're great actors, or there's a genuine respect and comraderie. I guess the fact that McCain and Palin have known each other for a mere, what? 6 months?, might explain that away. I've said this before, I don't buy this pairing.
Finally, I couldn't help but have this word pass through my brain many times as the network would flash around to various audience members--brainwashed. It's petty, I won't argue that, but I can't believe that some of things being said or some of the policies being followed, wouldn't reach the inner common sense areas of the brains of these folks. I feel bad that they're so clueless. There, I'm being an ass, but I simply don't care. And, I'm not running for public office, or in the public eye. I can be a jackass...and there's nothing you can do about it. :)
G'night.
