Bim Bam Boom, She Won the Tickets!

I've been watching too much of The Golden Girls. That's just all there is to it.

Joyce Hyser (lead actress from Just One of the Guys; whom I met a few days ago) was back in the store today. I was happy (thrilled!) to see that she remembered my name. I met her husband, and she picked up her merchandise. We're on a first name basis, folks. I'll buy that for a dollar. I'm such a dork. I think I was meant to meet her. I could have been on break, or heavy into selling w/ another customer. But, I was free, and got to meet the lead actress from one of my all time fave films. How cool is that timing? I told her today that I had blogged about her. I'm sure she's drafting the restraining order now.

I received my screener copy of House of Black Wings in the mail today. I will be viewing it on Saturday night w/ the other half, and friends Chris and Ami. I watched up to the end of the opening credits (and that's it!), cuz I couldn't contain myself. Very excited to sit down and see it. So very proud of David and indeed all of us. More on my thoughts after I have viewed it. Yeah!

Friends Simon and Macy have agreed to work on a title design/logo for Not My Mess Films. A bit of animation to rev things up before my films (all two of them)...you know, the Annette Bening opening for Columbia Pictures, the pegasus of Tri-Star, the spotlights of 20th Century Fox, the mountain of Paramount...etc. You know what I'm jabbering about, right? Well, I have given them my pathetic, childlike storyboards and ideas, and they are now seeing what they can do. Very exciting stuff. Also, I am now going to start looking for a sound designer to complete the director's cut of Ready to Go. It's gotta get done folks. For heaven's sake!

Well. My first opera. Das Rheingold. Let's just say that the other half and I are going to see about getting tickets for the remaining portions of The Ring Cycle. Here's how it went. The first half hour, I was very intent on following things; reading the sub-titles, learning names, etc. The next 45 minutes, I was pretty sleepy, but still following along. It was about this time when I told myself that this was never going to happen again. I was in pain, tired and unsure what the hell was going on. No more opera for me, thank you! The remaining 1 1/2 hours or so (no intermission folks) I was hypnotized. The music was amazing. The performers magnificent and the design of the show; sets and costumes, etc, was mind blowing. There was definitely a great deal of the time where I was lost. I love those moments while watching TV or film, or theatre (or opera in this case) where I completely lose my surroundings. I don't think about my life, my job, how stinky the train was on our way to the show...whatever. I was so drawn in to the story. It was transcendental. Am I being dramatic? Maybe, but I was definitely lost in there for a good long while. Loved it. Yeah, opera! Also, I didn't notice until we were on the train home, that a woman named Stacy Tappan was in the show. I did a short film w/ her while still in Chicago. How weird. Which reminds me, I was going to pop off an email to her to congratulate her. Must get that done. I'm a procrastinating loser!

I've completely lost interest in American Idol. As in all past seasons, once the auditions and final cuts are made, I'm done. Figured you'd all want to be in on this. You're welcome.

Also, the new season of The Amazing Race started, and we completely missed out on that. LOSERS!

I think I used this title on a blog entry before. Jeez.

The other half is lying in bed snoring right now. That's what we get for living in a studio. No privacy. He's got to be up by 6am, and I don't have to be to work until noon. That makes for super sleeping patterns. We are going to need a place w/ separate spaces. I get home from work @ about 9:3opm, and he needs to go to bed about that time (or a tad bit later). I've got to come down from work for a bit. That just doesn't work out. He needs his 40 winks, and I need to blog about complete BS. Nice.

I guess I should wrap this up, go fart in the other half's face, and hit the hay. Tee hee.

And now, for something you'll really enjoy. This is out of nowhere, but I've got a book recommendation. If you can find it, get it and read it. It's my favorite children's book. It's called The Ghost of Windy Hill, and it flippin' rocks! We have a piece of artwork @ the store (which I will eventually buy), and it is very reminiscent of the artwork from Windy Hill. Hello to you, Miss Miggie! Anyway, you can buy it for a couple of bucks on Ebay or such. It's a blue cover. Can't remember the author right off hand...Clyde Robert Bulla? I think. Check it out. I think I originally got it through the Weekly Reader series. Y'all remember that?

'night, mother.
