So Long, Lou...

Lou Perryman was recently killed...apparently in a ridiculous random act of violence. A link to a news report to follow. I know him best for his performances in two Tobe Hooper classics; Poltergeist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. In Poltergeist, he has a small but memorable turn as one of the construction workers digging the pool for the Freeling family. You'll recall that he was a taste-tester of sorts, sampling Diane Freeling (JoBeth Williams)'s coffee and chili through the open kitchen window. "You sure make good coffee, Mrs. Freeling".

I will lovingly remember his performance as the devout LG, Stretch's (Caroline Williams) long-suffering sidekick techie and would-be lover, in Hooper's sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He was funny, charming, goofy, and fiercely loyal. It was a great performance, and a standout in a film w/ many stand out performances. Just marvel at his delivery of lines like, "Lookee, I built you a little fry house", or "I'm falling apart on you, darling", or "I got a soft hard". Apparently, he had a vast resume, but as w/ most of my horror movie heroes, those scary flicks are what I know and love him for. So long, Lou.
