Flabbergasted...

Today @ work...a rather INSANE situation.

Woman calls for one of my co-workers. Wants to order an item. I place her on hold. Page my co-worker. She's with a customer in the store. She says she'll get it; after I tell her who the customer is and what she wants to order. A maximum of two minutes pass. The phone rings. It's the woman, saying she was disconnected. I advise her that co-worker is still with a customer. I place her on hold. Co-worker is going to be a minute; and can I please place the order for the phone customer. "Of course, I will." I pick up the phone. The customer starts to complain that I left her on hold for 10 minutes. I advise that it has been only a 2 minutes; tops. She goes on and on, getting very heated. She refuses to deal with me. Only w/ my co-worker. I then advise her that I can take a phone # and have co-worker return her call. She refuses. She then starts yelling that I shouldn't be in retail and that I'm rude. I tell her that she's being rude and I'm trying to help her. She then says something I cannot understand and hangs up.

A few minutes later...she calls back. I am the only one available. She insists that I give the phone to co-worker; or someone else...ANYONE ELSE. I again advise that no one is available. She then insists that I give the phone to a CUSTOMER...anyone but me. She says that she will have me fired. I advise her, "I'm sure that won't happen." I again try to get her phone # so co-worker can call her back. She's now screaming and just before a cowardly hang up (hers, not mine), she says, "I think you're a FAG!"

Of course, I'm SHOCKED. WTF?

I tell the co-worker (who is now available) to expect a call back from this CERTIFIABLE CRAZY LADY. Indeed, she calls back. A different co-worker answers the phone...only to have to listen the woman tell him that "she doesn't trust me" and that I'm "whiny".

Co-worker (whom she originally wanted) gets on the line. The order is placed, and on top of ALL of this, she REPEATS what she said to me (to co-worker); insults and all; in her complaint to co-worker. Flat-out telling co-worker that, "I called him FAG."

What is going on w/ people and who is supposed to give this woman her medication? Cuz apparently, they missed her on this afternoon's rounds.

Jeez.

This world is MESSED UP.

Of course, not 1/2 hour later, I am helping a sweet old couple. The man tells me "You're a good man" and a "good worker". In my mind; I'm asking him, "Are you sure I'm not a whiny fag instead?", but in reality, I reply with a humble "thank you."
