Yo! MTV Raps!

Just a quick note. While I do like King of the Hill, that is the show we take a break from on Sunday nights, in between The Simpsons and Family Guy. I will blog a bit and the other half will take his shower for tomorrow's work day, ironing will be done, etc.

Not much going on. The other half begins his second full week @ his new job, and tomorrow marks my fifth day w/ Z Gallerie. I'm feeling confident about this position, but I'm also a bit overwhelmed by the sheer # of products on the floor, and the never-ending computer systems, software, etc that I must become familiar with. I keep forgetting that I have to learn EVERYTHING, since I'm once again in a management position. Don't forget that I haven't been in retail management for nearly 10 years. I've forgotten the amount of multi-tasking you must take on. But, I'm really having a good time. The crew seems overall pretty supportive and fun. I already have many ideas about store operations that I would like to implement, but I'm holding off until I know more, and have more confidence from the staff. I'm not going to rock the boat yet, but eventually, we're in for stormy seas. Not a bad thing, just many things that clearly need addressing. I'm really excited. It's funny, I already look forward to my days off. This week I have two days off in a row. Not that I'm hating it, just that being on your feet all day, especially since I haven't done it in a while, can be pretty trying. Even at Restoration Hardware, back in Chicago, I was only part time, so I rarely worked longer than 6 hours a day. It's all about repetition, and then it will all be a piece of cake. I can't imagine the weight I'm going to lose, just by going to work. Yeah! Even my pants that fit properly and looked decent on me, are now a bit loose...that was about 9 months ago. So much changing.

The other half and I are feeling pretty confident in the new jobs, so we've actually started to discuss a budget. The fact that we have incomes, seems almost foreign, and that we can quickly start getting back on track w/ finances...it's all so strange. But, I'm very excited to get our stuff from storage, start paying back bills, and start living again...going out to eat has become such an event, to be able to do it regularly again, will be a Godsend. Frankly, that's what we love to do. I've decided that we are indeed "foodies", so I'm no longer going to feel guilty about eating out like we used to, and hopefully as we will do again. We love food. Sue us!

Well, Family Guy starts up soon. Must wrap this up. (What, am I writing a letter here?--Jeez). Rather than make another notation of stars/celebs I've encountered, in their own entry, let me notate some of the folks I've encountered recently. Daphne Zuniga (star of Spaceballs and Melrose Place), Seal and Heidi Klum (they walked past my store on my first day--apparently they frequent the Starbucks next door to us), Jarelle (sp?--one of the top 4 on this season's Project Runway--I got his autograph, but he didn't personalize it...bummer. Seemed like a nice guy). Those are the ones that come to mind right now.

Later all. And again, thanks for all of the well wishes. The other half and I are doing great, and finally on the road to stability. Feels weird. Love to all...
