Concerns about the Living Dead #43
Just found out; while perusing MySpace, that Clayton Hill passed away this week. I knew him best as "Escalator Zombie" in Romero's 1978 Dawn of the Dead. My brother and I always called him the "Ernest Borgnine Zombie". I met him and his wife Sharon ("Nurse Zombie") on a couple of occasions, and he was a real genuine treat. I'm very sad to see him go...
Let it be known that my second feature script (the Baker script) actually has/had roles for both Clayton and Sharon; playing themselves...and friends of my lead character (i.e. ME). So this kind of hits me personally...in a strange sort of way. Below is a link to an obit from The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Thoughts to Sharon and his family, and to all of the zombie fans out there...we lost a good one. Let us know how the other half lives, Clay.
